Jane Tollefsrud has enjoyed great diversity in her teaching career - ranging from being the Science Specialist for grades K-6 in a large, public school in Minnesota to tutoring K-12, multi-age classes in remote villages of Alaska. She is a dedicated educator and respectful “Global Citizen,” incorporating into her lessons the rich experiences gained from a lifetime of traveling around the world.
Since moving to Alaska in the 1970s, Jane has claimed it as “home-base." Her commitment of working to defend threatened wilderness areas was strengthened while living north of the Arctic Circle for two years. There she observed first-hand the constant, vivid proof of how magnificent bounty is supported by fragile ecosystems.
A devoted environmentalist, Jane embraces the “Think Globally, Act Locally” philosophy, working and volunteering for several local organizations whose mission is to protect the environment. In 2006, while working under contract with World Wildlife Fund, she enthusiastically joined the international movement addressing Climate Change.
In a joint effort with her husband of 22 years, Global Fever represents a culmination of specialized skills, unique adventures, and life-long passions.
